About the Committee

Formed in April 2025 under the authority of the Buncombe County Commission, the Buncombe250 Committee is in the early planning stages of the county’s participation in the national commemoration.

The Committee aims to assess existing programs and explore new opportunities that connect local communities to the broader themes of America’s founding.

The Committee is led by Glenn Stach, a landscape architect and preservation professional with prior involvement in planning for the U.S. Semiquincentennial Congressional Commission.

The Friends of the WNC Museum of History and Culture serves as the Committee’s fiscal sponsor (501(c)(3)).
